As a concert soloist, Ms. Pappas has sung with symphony orchestras across Canada, USA and Europe.
Acclaimed for her charisma and exquisite tone, soprano Lambroula Maria Pappas has impressed and delighted audiences around the world. She possesses an extraordinary blend of shimmering voice, powerful stage presence and sparkling lyricism.
Ms. Pappas has a Master of Music degree, and is the head of the vocal department of the British Columbia Conservatory of Music. She is also on the faculty at the outstanding summer art song program Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI).
Michelle Carlisle - Flutes & Whistles
Michelle Carlisle is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, expert on flute, piccolo, alto flute, irish whistle, fifes and piano.
She is well known for the last 20 years in Celtic music circles for her recording, touring and performances with multiple groups based in Vancouver.
What sets Michelle apart from other singers and flute players is her vivacious and passionate approach to music and life. Because of her contagious enjoyment of music, she brings her audience with her.
Britta Curkovic is the composer for Caelestra, writing and arranging all the unique music performed in concerts. Custom songs are available at request, please inquire.
Many of Britta’s songs can be categorized as “Celtic Fantasy Folk Music”, set in Renaissance or Medieval times, with themes relating to fantasy, magic, heroism, and pagan dances. The style of music is influenced by Celtic, Medieval, and Middle Eastern themes.
As a vocalist and muli-instrumentalist, Britta performs with Caelestra accompanying the music she writes, on Celtic Harp, guitars and Bouzouki.
Sacha Levin - Percussion
Sacha Levin is a percussionist with years of performance experience, who has studied African drumming in West Africa as well as London England, and Latin percussion here in Vancouver.
She has shared the stage with artists such as Julian Marley, Ron Sexsmith, Sal Fererras, Pepe Danza, and many more.
Sacha is in demand as a gigging and recording musician, works with some of Vancouver’s top musicians, and has toured and performed at festivals and concerts throughout Canada and the U.S.
Dr. Janelle Ragno - Cello
Janelle Ragno started playing cello by accident at the age of 10 in the public school system and went on to receive three degrees in music. After earning her Bachelors in cello performance at Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia, she received a Masters in String Pedagogy and a Doctorate in cello performance at the University of Texas at Austin with world-renowned string pedagogue Phyllis Young where she also served as Ms. Young’s teaching assistant. Janelle moved to Vancouver in 2008 with her husband, cellist Dr. Andrew Luchkow and now spends her time as a free-lance cellist, successful private cello instructor with many award-winning students and mom to two spry young children.
The members of Caelestra are available as a full 5-6 piece band for larger stages and festivals, or as a trio ensemble for smaller events.
